Nicola and Toni met while teaching in the Studio Art department at Capilano University in British Columbia. From there they formed a fast friendship and the collaborative known as DDC.
Nicola Tibbetts is a painter and drawer living in Vancouver, Canada. She received her BFA from Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec and her MFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax. Much of her work explores aspects of food in our contemporary and historic cultures – invoking allegory, humour and desire.
Nicola has exhibited her work nationally and internationally and has received grants from the government of British Columbia and private institutions.
Toni Latour is a multidisciplinary artist based in Vancouver, Canada. She received her BFA from the University of Windsor, Ontario and her MFA from the University of Western Ontario. Much of her work explores her identification as an artist and her relationship with various communities, including Vancouver’s queer communities.
Toni has exhibited her work nationally and internationally and has received numerous grants and awards in support of her practice. Her work has been included in the The Vancouver Biennale and is held in private and public collections, including the National Portrait Gallery of Canada and the Surrey Art Gallery. Toni teaches in the Visual Arts Department at The University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford, BC.
